Some of the most RELAXING songs we've ever done....

Oh hi Mark, how's your music life? Cheap Cheap. Oh, dig it, don't let your kids read this cause there's gonna be some talk about some stuff that kids shouldn't know about until they're 18 and you can just unload every evil and unholy piece of shit on them because they're "of age now" when the only preparation they've had up to that moment was "No, don't do or say that. It's BAD. and WRONG. and You'll understand when you get older" and then they sneak off and do it anyways, been watching you do it and even know where your stash is....

Anyways, so a lot of folks go to music for the escape. It's funny to me, but everything is a little funny to me... not always comical or bright humor, but still, there's something to laugh at. Music is a communication device. Sounds kinda creepy when you put it that way, but you didn't put it that way... it put itself that way, so it's okay. Spirits, which are nothing more or less than expressions, ways to express... they dig music heavily. So many of them riding on the wavs and vibes and all that jazz. So you'll be feeling kinda pissed off or whatever, and you'll notice it, dig? And so you're like, "Dude, i gotta chill down, this is killing the cool vibes i just had before i went off [key/vibe/frequency/tone]. I gotta hear my jam!" And the song completely... lifts... your spirits... and places you back where you wanna be. Songs with lyrics are even more colorful tats because there's so many words to see and sink into. Therein lies the danger. When folks get lost in emotion, or end up in some situation where they're just saturated with sounds and vibes that they don't know the meaning of or the intent, and the creator's inspiration was some dark and fucked up (confused or misguided) stuff... so now you've taken a soul bath in all of that mess. It happens. Radio drills that crap into your being and creates the world one track at a time, by playing that one track like fifty some odd bajillion times a day on 3 or 4 different channels. No wonder you need an escape. There's that funny part. Sometimes you need an escape from music, but things and beings get so programmed... they run to more music! TO ESCAPE THE MUSIC! Personally, i play, but i'm lucky enough to have a band i live with to jam out and work thru things with others. Alone is great solitude, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you need their conversation along with you playing thru your self and illusions and thoughts, feelings... vibes.

Having said all that, here's some of the most relaxing songs we've done. Going thru the music it was pretty cool to see just how many really relaxing songs we've done! Some of them were for other bands/projects, maybe they got shelved, maybe they just did nothing with it. Either way, here we go.... We'll go with the playable/downloadable version. Some have videos and some don't, but all of them are out there in this form, so... yeah... enjoy. True, there's more than what's here, this is just a freak's handful of songs, but man, it's gonna stir up emotions and crap, so sometimes it's hard to sit down, listen to the song, have all of that stuff play back, and then write it out for your entertainment. For you understanding, ok, but for your entertainment it's a bit of a traumatic episode on this end, so i'll do just a few....

BLEACHED GOLDEN BLUE

I wouldn't know how to rank this list, but whatever the ranking system would be, this would be in the top five, if not the most relaxing song we've ever done. Different strokes for different folks, true, everyone's got their own styles and tastes and flavors... and succulent juices with a contemporary yet vibrant blend of savor herbs and spices... slow roasted to a golden crispy.... um.. music. Doesn't matter what i say, If you hit play and are listening to that, you're in another place. Nothing matters there. You're just floating on some kinda cloud peace or something. Did that one in Byrdo's studio spot back in Philly waaay back when. One of those "This is how to make music with this program" sessions, when him, Tyy, and me were studio rats. We still are, and get all geeky in "The Lab" whenever we can. It's good creating with friends. Especially when it's something this cool and peaceful and you can share it with everyone. Most folks reaction is just, "Wow. That's pretty. That's like the most relaxing thing i've heard in a while." The name of the song is based on the color of the vibe, if that makes sense. Our group was just Tyy and me, now and then jamming out with Slikk, but before he was officially down, haha... and Byrdo was just getting settled in Def Theory about to go off into Jaiden Malone. We were all picking sounds and splicing things in, and then we'd all mix a version, which is a cool way to do music. Sometimes we'd end up with three different versions of the same song, one from each of us, and sometimes we'd just agree to work on one song, like a lesson in musically merging and making a complete song as one group. It's a good exercise. A lot of music projects aren't real bands, it's a group or duo or even a solo artist who has a band and they're like, "You play this, and any creative input you have you can keep to your self." I don't know anyone who gets into playing music to NOT express their self. That's a sucky situation, having a voice and never being able to use it. Anyways, so we all came together on this one, and there it is. Now that i think about it, this song kinda taught us the peace of being a band.... like, when everyone's part is on the same vibe and everything clicks... that harmony and peace. That freedom and understanding.

Josephine & The Sea

Charlie's really old. Hate to say it like that, and I'm sure she wouldn't take offense, but, dude, yeah, really old. Having said that, and no, there's no taking that back now, I'm just out here at the mercy... but yeah, having said that (Don't kill me Charlie if you read this) she's been around a lot of things, and a lot of those things were people in situations.. moments. Sometimes, and we all have our ways of doing this, but sometimes she'll just walk out to the library or her other quiet place and just play. Sometimes you see something that reminds you of something or someone, and you get hit with this rush of emotions... memory or not, sometimes it's just the weight of the moment and you gotta get out of here and deal with your self for a second. This is a quiet moment she was having. I kinda stood in a doorway listening to her playing thru whatever memory or thing it was and this is what was coming out. I asked her, "Hey, what was that?" and she smiled a little, like when you remember something that's over, but wish it wasn't, but it's cool that its a memory because at least you have the memory, dig me? That smile... and she said, "Jo... Josephine... and the sea." Which was followed by her looking up at me with a big smile and saying, "You like that?" and before i could answer she said, "So what. Go away." and i left. Women... I don't think I'll ever understand them. But i understand completely. They're women. It's a frickin beautiful gesture tho, this song. I'm really thinkin Charlie kissed a girl. Charlie, you didn't read that if you're reading this, and it's none of my business.... but you kissed a girl, didn't you? Holy crap i figured it out. I think. I dunno. I'm a clown, man.... NEXT!

Smokey Blue Green Saturdays

Shmoooookeeeeerrrrrr soooooonnnnng. So, TYY, the resident hip hop head... is a stoner. Now, we all are a little, but it effects us all differently. Like me, i kinda get really creative and then have to drop a deuce. I don't know why, but that's what it is. Charlie gets all giggly and is one of them STONED stoners. Slikk is quiet. When he smokes, which is rare and takes a loooot of peer pressure for him to partake, which is odd, being a bear which is like as natural and in nature as you can get for one, and for two he's a jazz lover and player... but yeah, he doesn't really smoke. But when he does, he gets... quieter. Hard to even tell if it's kicked in with him, but you can see it on his face sometimes, and you're like, "Yeeaaaaah, you're lit." We'll all get creative a little. We'll all get a fecal-bundle of philosophical (Fecal Bundle is the scientific term for a "shit-load"... hey Todd). Tyy is regular. I mean he's crazy either way, but when he's stoned it's hard to tell because he's still just as crazy and random. SO, having said all that, he strolls into the little courtyard area at the Asylum one day... I'm just chilling out there, looking at the cloud aminals and shapes and so on, and he's like, "Oh cool. You're chilling. So, what's up?" And i'm looking at him with his slanted sucked-on peppermint eyes, like how the red fades and just gets all over the white, but it's oh so shiny still with huge red veins... and i'm like, "Ok sir, with your ridiculous grin. I'm gonna need to see your puff puff pass." And he's like, "Oh i gotts it right here." and pulls out a joint that's twisted up like a dolphin. I'd never seen a dolphin. I've seen a flower. I've seen a triple and a quad, they look like Lumiere, it's pretty cool, you smoke his feet... or his butt. Ok, maybe not so cool now. Anyways, so, dig it, he's like, "Let's go make out with this dolphin." and I''m like, "Cool." So what was in there was blueberry kush. It was pretty interesting. It was on a friday when we started the song... it was sunday when we got done. That saturday, while still making the song, Charlie came in with a huge gallon of wine which was a party gift at some kinda reception thing. And she got a pretty cool platinum key chain thing. She knew the bride, they were orphans or living in the same girls home, but the point is... we were krazy high, she had wine, and Tyy went out and came back with another dolphin. And then Slikk came in, partly because of the smell, but mostly because of the soothing groove... and that's how we spent the weekend. Making and playing back this song, drinking red wine from a rich girl wedding, and making out with blueberry dolphins. I remember at one point, I was eating some kinda peanut butter cereal, and Tyy was like, "You know it's not really peanut butter in there. The government has labs where they grow chemicals that taste like different things, and they just spray it on shit to make shit taste like other shit. It's poison. The fake food and the spray. But it's addictive poison. They make it that way. GMO, read a book." and he had the most serious, yet concerned look on his cute little face, and we were all dead silent for a second and we all just bust out cracking up, but i stopped eating that cereal because i didn't know how true that was, and i was pretty stoned, and drunk, and there was pie and cake, so... yeah, really normal weekend. But that's why there's the saturday in the title. Smokey Blue Green Saturdays is the whole vibe. Now you know why.

AFTER NONE

Well, there's a blog about this song already, but to recap it's about being away from music, working to get money to make things easier in living life, which never works because jobs only pay you enough to come back the next week. It's a bit of torture. So, this song was after getting in from being on the road and working, and enjoying a bit of PEACE after there was none. So, AFTER NONE. The peace is what was missing. Get it? The video, and the image there, which was taken from the video, is actually actual footage from being on the road. I think that was on the way to Boston maybe? Maybe on the way to Pa or NY or something, but it was one of the east-coast runs. That fog was pretty cool. You couldn't really tell which side of the road you were on, which is not so cool because there was a huge drop off into the woods on one of the curves, which was very very lovely. All of the fall colors going on there.

The Present (The Nu Slo)

This is what dreams sound like that don't want to be, while sitting in the rain dealing with the reality of their being a dream. It was the mood after reflection.... one part is about one of those days where you're out on the street (cause i was out on the street in your world/real world) after some sincere gestures and a lot of hard work which killed a lot of faith in humanity... hence getting my arse back to limbo and mostly dealing in the cartoon or limbo realms now. That whole thing about dreams is real though. Like, picture being someone else's dream. Picture that, but being out on the street. Sleep on steps in a doorway, like on a stoop, in the rain with a hoodie as your home... and as its raining at night, you watch out for cops, rats, people trying to rob you, drunk people doing dumbass drunk things and treating people like they're not people, while watching a family sleep on the church steps across the street. That's a true story. Welcome to California. Sometimes you wonder why God dreams this shit up. It's not fun to go thru. It scars you for life. Just a daydream to God. It wakes up from it, no skin off it's back, and goes on ruling and imposing will on everything. Facts are only facts because they're your opinion and you made everyone go along with it. Be that powerful. Now, be the dream... going along with it. Hard to tell which one's real and which one's more worse off sometimes. The sincere gestures part was losing a place after trying to keep other folks from being on the street. Funny to end up losing all you worked hard for, because you tried to help someone who lost everything get back on their feet, or others not lose everything they have and make things right. Jokes on the clown, huh? Don't know what happened to those folks. Loads of plans and talks about making it and opportunities, but... everything is something to do. Even talk and dream. Anyways, so things were moving slow, needless to say. Some nights, in that life, you just walk. You walk around the whole city. No aim, not really. Along the walk you come up with places to go, but it don't really mean anything. It's like 3 or 4am and you're walking down the middle of what would be busy downtown traffic, and there's no one out then... not even hookers. Maybe some cops. Now and then some club people or night shift workers coming and going. You just walk tho. Sometimes you make a scavenger hunt list, while going over what happened in life and living it, and how you know ways out of this but nothing seems to be working... so let's walk and see if we can find an outlet that's not capped off and still works to charge this phone to keep the music playing and the flashlight working. Or, "I wonder what's down this street. Never been down here. Not that i got anywhere to be. So... let's." and even one time, "Let's piss over this bridge onto the freeway because fuck everything. And then go to this party I got an invite to and get smashed. And then leave and go nowhere." Hit a guy with his top down in a benz i think it was. After that whole bit, there were a few ups and downs and then ended up being in limbo again, and then ended up in your world Detroit. Would slip into limbo there, but it's nuts man, some parts of REAL WORLD DETROIT look just like Limbo World Detroit. Same ghosts and things running around. Some of the buildings are still burning... like eternally. Cause there's no real time in limbo, just moments and what you do with them. Anyways, yeah, Detroit... was interesting. I'm sure if i was there under different circumstances it would have been more interesting, but you ever go somewhere and you're not even there? Like, you never see the place, you just work. And do nothing really. Nothing that's you anyways. Charlie and Slikk were back in school at that time, Tyy was workin at a Rita's, getting ready for the summer hit. So, let's explore the world a little. It's crazy to come back "home"... to a haunted insane asylum, hahahahhaa.... and decompress in a studio room, thinking about all of that that went on. You kinda wonder if you're still a person. You wonder about how human the world is. What's the point of all this. What's worth doing?! Music. That's about all i can come up with. I mean, "helping" people is cool, but a lot of people who NEED the help don't want it, and a lot of those who want it only want you to do everything for them to fuck over later... meanwhile its all allowed, so... sometimes, fuck everything. Do music. Sit back and think of this twisted dream we're in... "The New Slow" Motion... that's what the present is, when dreams reflect on reality.

Alberta from out there

We did a whole thing on this song. It's out there in the blog somewhere, under the music tab more than likely. I'm not writing all of that all over again.
